One of the newest additions to St John's Hill, Ellie & Charlotte is a wedding boutique with a difference:
it is both welcoming and friendly, but above all stylish. The eponymous
owners have been working together for several years and in December
2007 thought it was the right time to open their first boutique. They
couldn't believe their luck when 117 St John's Hill became available;
to them the look and the space was perfect for their business: Ellie
& Charlotte and the street was very glad to welcome them.
Ellie is
the designer; she designs and makes all the Ellie & Charlotte
dresses at the boutique. Charlotte is a clients' point of contact and
she liaises with them throughout the process of design and fit of each
outfit, ensuring the experience of having a dress made for you is an
unforgettable one for all the right reasons.
Not only does this team
design and make beautiful modern wedding dresses, but their boutique
also has a select range of ready-to-wear collections, perfect for
wedding attire or such events as the ladies day at Ascot. Ellie and
Charlotte create stunning wedding dresses to the highest
specifications, plus they make mother of the bride and bridesmaids
outfits and advise on and source the best accessories, veils and shoes
too. In the boutique area of the shop, they stock ready-to-wear
collections, including such London Fashion Week labels, as Allegra
Hicks. I happen to know that recently Gemma Bissix (Eastenders) wore
one of the original Ellie & Charlotte designs along the red carpet
for the Soap Awards ceremony earlier this year.
We are looking forward to reading the quarterly fashion feature which
the girls will be writing exclusively for their street website:
StJohnsHill.co.uk Ellie will be contributing all the latest styles and
must-have trends, so you know exactly what's going on in the fashion
world, whilst Charlotte will be keeping you updated with styling tips,
how to wear your wardrobe and where best to find it.
The main reason
Ellie and Charlotte love St John's Hill (apart from its location!) is
that it has that unique feeling of a friendly independent
neighbourhood. They agree that unfortunately there are not many of
those left in London. These fashionistas say that their street has a
great selection of shops, bars and restaurants - there's enough going
on that you there is a great atmosphere, but not so much that you are
never recognised! Charlotte tells me that this is a great secondary
high street, the very definition of "up and coming" – it's looking
smarter and smarter all the time and as long as the balance of shops is
maintained, you don't really need to stray far from your doorstep!
StJohnsHill.co.uk is very pleased to welcome Ellie and Charlotte to St
John's Hill and the project is very glad to have their support. It is
fantastic to meet two such talented young ladies, with such passion for
their subject and also a genuine energy for positively contributing to
the community to which their business belongs. As this boutique becomes
increasingly well-known it will be extremely well supported by the
local residents, but also will take its rightful place as one of the
true, destination stores of London.
