Wedding Dress Trends

ellie-charlotteLace is big for 2009, just be careful you can carry it off – the most important thing whilst choosing your wedding dress is to work out what silhouette suits you and the style of your wedding, once you’ve worked that out then focus on the fabric.

If you love lace then look at different types from a light Chantilly lace to a heavy French corded lace and then work out which one suits you – it can look vintage, classic English country, contemporary or certain laces may age you and look frumpy. If you can’t carry off an entire lace dress than maybe choose one that incorporates lace in the design or choose a lace with a bit of sparkle on it.

Colour: Don’t be afraid to steer away from classic ivory, it doesn’t suit everybody, ask to see soft shades of colour, as they can be really subtle and lift you if in the right tone - another way to add a contemporary edge to a classic style.

Empire line dresses generally suit most people and really are a very flattering style as it frames the waist whilst lengthening your legs, adding to your height. The empire line works well in fluid and structured fabric.

A big trend in the wedding world is one-shoulder dresses, not a silhouette that suits everybody, or everyone’s cup of tea, but if you want your dress to stand out and look different from everybody else’s wedding dress; it’s defiantly a style to consider.

Accessorise your dress with corsages or a brochure to add a unique personal touch or to use that something old from a friend or family.
