Nestled in its own private courtyard at the top of St Johns Hill, this

Steve Doyle, the owner, has practised dentistry in London for 15 years. Steve qualified in Leeds in 1987, after which he practised abroad and then in Clapham, before establishing Medenta on St John's Hill in 2004. Steve's first degree was in psychology from Nottingham University, which he uses to good effect when treating anxious patients. Steve tells me that his focus is on communication and prevention ; by carefully listen ing to any problems a patient might have, together they can make a full and informed decision about treatment options. I find Steve's gentle northern accent and his cheerful manner very soothing - his other patients agree that his 20 years of experience in the field of dentistry is very reassuring. Whenever I visit his impressive and ultra-modern clinic, his team always present themselves as true professionals - dedicated to keeping me happy and healthy.
But Medenta houses more than the dental practice - it also gives space to Dr. Richard Sibthorpe who qualified as a doctor at King's College in 1984 and has lived in South London for 15 years. He started his professional life by setting up his own private practice in Harley Street treating mainly musicians and actors, in line with his non-doctoring interests. Richard currently has a surgery in Sloane Square and is Medical Director of Harley Aesthetics in Harley Street, where he also lectures and trains nurses in aesthetic procedures.
He is an active member of the B.A.C.D. British Association of Cosmetic Doctors and is experienced in most aesthetic procedures - anti-wrinkle injections (botox), the Restylane range, Hydrafill, Radiesse and others treatments such as Sculptura and Facial Peels which he says are increasingly popular with his patients. The Medenta principle is that 'prevention is better than cure', hence all patients are encouraged to attend annual health checks and for some individuals more comprehensive health screening is advised – together he will help you decide the most appropriate course of treatment. Reassuringly, this team are ready to look after any acute or sudden problems and appointments can given on the same day.
Children are welcome at Medenta and the team is always available for advice.
Once they have you smiling they can look at ways to improve your smile using a variety of cosmetic techniques. In most dental cases it is a simple matter of pain relief and restoration. In all cases, prevention of any further deterioration becomes their priority and Steve ensures all his patients know the importance of oral hygiene. Steve tells me that his continuing special interest is in developing procedures for cosmetic dental treatment, with an emphasis on achieving a complete smile makeover and invites anyone to call and book for a consultation.
Steve is a well-known face on St John's Hill and is the leader of the Traders Association - a group which meets to discuss and overcome issues facing the businesses on this thriving Battersea shopping street.
